प्रकाश की तीव्रता पौधे के भोजन, तने की लंबाई, पत्ती के रंग और फूल के निर्माण को प्रभावित करती है। सामान्यतया, कम रोशनी में उगाए जाने वाले पौधे हल्के हरे पत्तों वाले नुकीले होते हैं। बहुत तेज रोशनी में उगने वाला एक समान पौधा छोटी, बेहतर शाखाओं वाला होता है, और इसमें बड़े, गहरे हरे पत्ते होते हैं।
